This question was in one of the bible studies I am doing:
What are some of the daily challenges, struggles, and pains you face as you walk through a normal week in the valley of life?
At the place and time in my life now, besides a few physical pains, I do not have many personal struggles.
But I look at our life in the ministry and realize that often regardless of our mountaintop we are amidst so many people struggling in the valley.
This does not come with the territory of being a pastor and pastor’s wife. This comes because we live life with people.
So much is happening in so many lives around us. Pain and joy. Trials and triumphs. Right now. Even as I am typing this, someone is hanging on for life and another is welcoming a baby into the world.
As God and I were spending time together he reminded me that he created fellowship for a purpose. We are to share in the joys with others, and we are also to share in the pain of others. We are to lift up their arms as Aaron and Hur lifted up Moses’ arms when they got tired so that the battle would be won.
My challenge for you today:
Are you living life with people? Or are you focused on you alone?
Are you being an Aaron or Hur to someone who is struggling? Are you sharing in joys and pain with others?
It isn’t always easy to walk with others through their pain, but it is rewarding. And it is what God calls us to do.
Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2 NLT)
